About Ernest Rutherford:

 

Lord Rutherford was born in 1871 and grew up on a farm just outside Nelson. Rutherford graduated from university with three degrees and a reputation for being a highly competent researcher. His ground breaking research into the chemical nature of radioactivity and the nuclear structure of the atom was to win the Nobel prize in 1908.

 

Rutherford achieved and sacrificed so much during his career. There is a lot to be said for setting goals, working hard, being motivated and dedicated and showing pride in your work and yourself. It is these sort of qualities that Lord Rutherford had that all members of Rutherford House should look toward and strive for.
